Yesterday I replaced both engine mounts. Take a look at picture. These are old mounts after 125.000k. No more metal vibration! :D

Good job, Bansai...how long did it take you? How did you support the engine?

If you have time do a DIY we can add to the sticky.

Take care and enjoy the vibration-free ride,
Greg

I’d like to say “Thank you” to texas-patrick, who prepared very good description for such of routine.

Major problem was access to upper bolts.
I bought tricky, flexible ratchet from Craftsman (Sears item #00944815000 Mfr. model #44815).

This tool works very well and allowed to replace both mounts much faster then method with opened wrench.

- Unplug the battery! Right engine mount located pretty close to starter and you could get electrical salute when you'll put your wrench in this area (don’t ask me why I know ;).
- Slide off serpentine belt. (torx E10 to move auto tensioner)
- Unscrewed A/C compressor and slide it forward (torx E12)
- I unscrew lower bolts (soket 13mm) and after used floor jack to raise the engine approx on 1 ½”. After that you will able to reach both upper bolts (socket 16 mm).

Tools:
Sockets: 8mm (for engine splash guard), 10mm (to unplug the battery), 13mm, 16mm, 17mm (I tuke off front wheels)
Torx: E10, E12
Floor jack.
Piece of wood (2x4" and 1 foot long)
3/8” drive ratchets (generic and flexible),
torque wrenches.

Every decent tool kit should include a flex-head ratchet and a set of wobble extensions. I can't begin to count the times one or both has saved my mechanical bacon, so to speak.

Again, great job, Bansai.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

haha

haha!! I remember when I replaced my mounts for the first time. Why am i laughing?? Probably because I forgot to unbold BOTH mounts before i started lifting the engine with a transmission/ engine lift. It was actually kinda funny and cool.... All this oil just spit out all over me.
Anyways.. besides that. It took me about 1/2 hr to 45 min to replace both. (that includes small breaks too) Its a lot easier with proper equipment... A LOT. ---A machanic is only as good as the tools he owns---

On the other hand... what I used.... I car lift, Tripod Engine/Tranny lift, A small (3 inch handle) Snap On ratchet with 3/8ths drive, That one flex ratchet that was listed in an earlier posts 3/8ths drive, and some wreches 8mill and 13mill.
