BAS ABS ESP malfunction after tightening loose steering column

I had a loose steering column on my 1998 E320. Yesterday, my friend and I opened the steering wheel and tightened several bolts to fix the loose steering column. We disconnected the battery to be on the safe side.

After we put the steering wheel back and connected the battery back, we started to receive BAS, ABS and ESP malfunction warnings. I sought this forum and found the suggestion to recalibrate the steering angle sensor. With the brake pressed, I turned the steering wheel all the way to the left, held it there for several seconds and then turned it all the way to the right and held it there for several seconds. Then I center the steering wheel and turned off the engine. However, this procedure doesn't seem to fix the malfunction warnings. I tried to disconnect the battery with the hope to clear these warnings, but no success.

Have you experienced the same problem after tightening the loose steering column? Did I do the recalibration procedure correctly? If not, what is the correct procedure?

Thanks in advance for your time and advice/suggestion on how to resolve this.
