I tried to have the codes checked on my 1998 e430 at autozone. I thought this vintage used ODBII, but their book said otherwise. I also looked for an ODBII port, but all I could find was a round port about the size of a silver dollar on the driver side. Help! What does it use, and where's the port?
That is one of the ports for diagnosing. However the port for the OBDII is on the driver side by your legs in the car, It has a protective cover that flips up and bingo you should see it.
The OBD2 port is located INSIDE the car on the Drivers side lower dash panel
it has a plastic cover that flips up..
The Round 21 pin connector inside the fuse box is for the old style Mercedes Hand held tester
