Folding passenger side mirror stuck.

Hi all. The passenger side mirror is stuck in folded position on my 2000 E320. I pushed it back because I wanted to lubricate the hinges, (expecting it to snap back into place like the pre 2000 versions), but it has the power folding option so it is stuck in the folded position. I can hear the motor running but it will not catch the gear to move the whole housing forward. I cannot remove the plastic cover to access the internals because this is the updated model (year 2000) and does not seem to have the retainer clip that the older, spring loaded types had. Anyone knows how to remove the plastic cover so I can get better access to the gears?

Thanks,

Alex

Sorry I dont have the answer to your question. But I never knew they made folding mirrors on the 2000 E-Class. Mine didn't come with that...Maybe that can be a new mode for me! ;0)

It is a Japanese model, here everything is small (roads, paking spaces, people etc.) so every car comes with power folding mirrors. Hence my problem.

Thanks for the video, ufortunately that one is for mirrors without the power folding option. The inside of mine looks different, I can't see the clip that the guy just unhooks. I also has the parking assist function, when I put the car in reverse the mirror tilts down automatically. I need to remove the cover in order to see why the mirror wouldn't go back to its original position, however so far was unable to locate any clip that releses the cover.
Thanks anyway,

Alex
