My 2000 E320 4MATIC Wagon has a "loose" shift lever. It feels like a bushing has given away.
The shifter has the normal side-to-side motion for the "tiptronic" function, but has lately began having more play to the fore and aft motion. It feels really loose when shifting.
Are there any servicable parts inside the module or do I have to purchase a whole new unit. I haven't taken the unit out of the car completely, but I am planning on doing it next week.
I think I have figured out how to get it out of the car, but it will take a bit of time to get it out.
I have tried to find a diagram online of the shifter module and its inner workings, but can't find any. I was going to go ask my dealer if he can let me see the exploded parts diagram.
Any ideas or thoughts??? I also have to do the right rear window regulator, but that is another story.
Hold on dude. Now are you sure its loose inside the shift module. Try looking under the car were the shifter linkage ataches to your shifter. There should be a bushing. It's prob. gone. thats why you have that much slack. The bushing is only about 5 buck I think in your case is green. well good luck.
I am not sure of there is a direct shift linkage connection between the shift module and the tranmission.
I thought there was only a wired connection from the shifter module to the tranmission module. Maybe I am wrong. I can't find any pictures of a 2000+ shifter in a car or below.
I tried alldata.com but they are useless and I have asked for a refund.
Yes, Alldata was a waste of time and I have asked for a full refund.
Willace1: Do you have any pictures of what I need to look for underneath the car? I am not sure if the connection is under a heatshield or above a catalytic convertor.
check out this web site i tried to copy from the E.P.C. but was'nt able to hope it's helpful or e-mail at wacevedo@m-bso.com i'll try and help you out.http://mb.braingears.com/
