With my eyes are widely open to see through the fish tank but I'm not able to suck all of the water out from the tank ... what does it make you feel confidence that the sucking technique will do better than the draining’s?

What, you remove the drain plug from your aquarium?

Seriousely, some cars today are designed to have the oil sucked out the top. It doesn't have to work better than draining, since you will never get all the oil out either way. Just change it often enough, and you'll be fine with either method.

Just finished by oil change and...

what a royal pain in the ass

Clearly the engineers at Mercedes were smoking crack. Is it really necessary to disassemble and remove the air intake to access the oil filter, which spills all over the place when you remove it.

I am disliking this car more and more....

you remove

the filter after you have drained a few liters of oil out and then it's not so messy.

When you guys change your oil filter do you place the filter inside the cartridge or do you snap it onto the lid and then put it back on? Also could somebody clarify to me what a fleece filter is?

Fleece is different filtering material, than most common paper. At this point it is superior on gassers. The cartridge goes on the filter shaft before inserting into the housing.
I sucked the oil on ML55 and then pulled the plug. The bottom drain dropped 2 tablespoons of oil, but after reinserting the plug, I was still able to gargle some oil via dipstick tube (no tubing inserted). Bottom line, even if you drop the pan and wipe it clean, you'll always have few oz of oil resting on the engine shelf, cooler and tubings. Nothing to sweat about.
BTW right now Kragen (Checker) is having $1 off on Mobil 1 bringing 0-40 price to $5.

Just finished my first Benz oil change. What a joy and super clean with that oil filter on top. Yes, I sucked. What a hassle my old Volvo 740 was with a side mounted filter buried deep within the engine with all the oil gushing out as it was unscrewed.
