What Are These Tools For?

These tools came with the MB tool kits. I hope I will never use them but wonder to know what they are for. Thx,

The top tool is the tow hook.
The lower one is for the wheel's bolt align (where is the bolt to be in, when you mount the wheel back).
I believe there are some instructions in the manual show you how to use them. Regards.

Thanks 00CLK208. I bet several Benz owners, including me did not know there is a special alignment bolt tool that helps to remove and install the wheels. Sorry MB, I used to get angry at the Benz's designer when removing and installing the wheels on my E320.

only the ones who don't read the manual.

It does make life a bit easier when trying to align the lug bolt holes. Hopefully you'll never need the tow bolt.

If I knew it last week, I would use it to pull a couple trees that were leaned on my neighbor back yard from the wind of Ernesto.

Len's right, but a word of caution for the alignment tool. It's only aluminum and it's meant specifically to align the wheel, so you have to be careful when you install the wheel over it that you don't put any of the wheel's weight on it or it will bend -- or worse, shear off in the hole. Personally I never use the darn thing; the wheels are hub-centric, so once you get them in place the hub supports them and it's usually pretty easy to rotate the wheel to the correct alignment. Now, parked on the side of the road at night in a rainstorm when your flashlight batteries are weak, then I'd probably use the tool, but otherwise...

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg
