Ohms Law ..

If you wire the speakers in series the resistance is R1+R2=Rt

R1 is the resistance of the first speaker, R2 is the resistance of the second and Rt is the total resistance ...

Most car speakers are 4 ohms so in this case in series it would be 4 + 4 = 8 ohms
V=IR (voltage=power x resistance) - this is ohms law ... V is constant in the is case so if R goes up I goes down ... this means if you hook 2 speakers in series you will get LESS current (amps) to each and thus for the same amount of power from the amp it will be a touch quiter (just like the post above says)

now in parallel ...

1/R1 + 1/R2 = 1/Rt (one over R1 + 1 over R2 = 1 over Rt)
or for a 4 ohm speaker
1/4 + 1/4 = 2/4 = 1/2 = 1/Rt so Rt = 2 ohms

What does this mean? Looking at ohms law
V constant
R went down from 4 ohms to 2
so the Current I will go UP ... CAREFUL!!! is this amp stable at 2 ohms ... you could fry your amp if it's not ... it sounds like some people have done this but if you do, do it at your own risk ...

Exactly!
Good explanation.

I'm about to do a full system change! What I wanted to know is, do you just lift the rear grills up or does the whole back deck come off and how (rear speakers)?

I was considering bridging components, any advice. If I did purshase two extra
6" woofers for the back, I would consider components and then bridge with stock left/left right/right. Any thoughts on this method?

It would work ONLY IF you had an amp cable of being bridged.
I don't think the stock radio could do that.

Oh ok, I see what your saying, the amp cable will run better sound through the bridge set up?

Isnt that the Big Blue Cable?

How do you access (get to) those rear speakers?

I don't have a stock stereo system so I don't know what colors any of the existing cables are.
Bridgeable amps are used to increase the output of the amp.
Not all amps can do this.
Do not try bridging your amp unless you know for sure it can handle the lower impedance otherwise it will get fried.
