I guess this is a Murphy's Law, my catalytic converter (driver’s site) is going bad and my local Stealership has record that my car has 81,144 miles which is 1,114 over the catalytic converter warranty and they are "very sorry". The cost of the repair is $671 for the part and 3 hrs of labor ($450) =$1,121 for drivers site only!
Can anybody suggest good place to buy OEM converter for less? My local mechanic is willing to install it. Please help!

The OEM ones are crap. They are known to go bad with even less miles. I had both of mine replaced at 35K miles. They should just replace it as a good faith repair. Contact the national MB office and complain or at least bring that up at the dealership. The last time I had better aftermarket cats from magnaflow installed for much less. They cost less, last longer and give better flow than the oem ones. The original pipes are used and they are welded in place by the muffler shop. They have the 8 year 80K mile warranty too.

E-Klasse,
I called dealership and national MB office same answer from all "Sorry, you are passed the 80,000 federal warranty." No screaming will help around here, they do not care if you stay costumer for MB or not. I have never had such poor response from my wife’s Subaru people or on my previous Lexus experience. Both manufactures went extra mile to please me even after the warranties expired. Subaru replaced faulty transmission for free (after warranty) and Lexus change my timing belt for free while working on the water pump (after warranty). Mercedes of America sucks in costumer satisfaction!
I could not find any web sites for good replacement converters for 2000 E320 4matic. Can suggest any?
