On my 02 E320 the drivers door is harder to close than all the other doors, it requires a good almost slam with some oomph behind it to close completely. Every time I try to just swing it closed it only catches on the first latch. Also when I open it, it really pops when the catch releases, like there's a lot of pressure there. The other three doors all close with a normal light swing and open nicely.
I loosened the catch to try to adjust it a little but it doesn't seem like it's adjustable. I can't see any way to adjust this. There are no obvious pressure spots or alignment issues showing, The car has never been tweaked, but this door annoys me every time I have to make two or three attempts to close it.
I was having the opposite problem-- My door wouldn't latch tightly enough and the interior lights kept coming on when I took hard right-hand turns. To adjust the latchplate which does look like it's not adjustable, my mechanic loosened the screws on the plate and gave it a good whack with a heavy rubber mallet and then retightened the screws. Problem solved...
