i searched for a while but could not find my specific answer, i know you guys can help. So i have a 98 e320 4matic with 134k, i love this car and it has been/is great. just recently the AC started acting up. i hear a hiss from behind the center vents, but the compressor is working fine and it is not in neeed of refrigerant, i already checked with the gauge and the diagnostics in the climate control, i forget the number but i think it was 14 (not sure of number), whatever it was it was within range , i did this 2 weeks ago. now when i put the ac on automatic and the coolest temp it doesn't go all the way to full fan speed, always 1 notch below, and the temp. of air coming out of the passenger vent next to the pass. door and on the pass.(right) side of the double vent in the middle of car above climate control is nice and cold, but the temp. coming out of the driver side vents is warm, there is a very noticeable diff. in air temp although both sides are set the same. i figure this must be a problem in the climate control itself right? because if it were the compressor, or low on coolant it would affect both sides equally. i dont know if this is relevant or not but a few weeks ago i replaced the duovalve after i took it out to clean it and broke the copper wires, so i bought a new one and replaced the whole unit, could this matter? also i know there are test to fix/change the vent settings, i have the directions on how to do it but haven't yet, will this help?sorry for the long query guys....
No idea what is wrong, but I heard similar hissing in the E320 2001 I test drove yesterday. The hissing comes from deep inside the center console and stays on about 30 seconds after the A/C is turned off.
Did anyone have the same problem? Any insight into how serious this can be?
Thanks in advance...

I haven't lost my mind - it's backed up on a tape somewhere.
i just installed a new duovalve a few weeks ago and after i did the ac was fine, this problem just started, and there is no problem with the blower speeds, just the temps. today i checked the refrigerant level and the gauge on the can read full, but i now have reason to believe this gauge may be wrong. i ran the diagnostic by holding the "rest" button for 10 secs and the right and left temps were different on the evap cores. also when i checked the refrigerant pressure in bars it was 14 while idling and would go down to 9 when driving and then creep back up every time i stopped. when i first checked the pressure it was 9 and then i added some refrigerant and it went to 14, this is why i think the gauge on the refrigerant can is faulty, it said i was overfilled. driving me crazy here! i want to add more refrigerant but do not want to actually overfill, if it was overfull what would the pressure read? my pressure being 14 i think i am not overfull right?
