Repaint testers

I've never tried to buy one of those, but I didn't realize they were not available to the general public.
The general manager of a Mercedes dealer I know walked me around a brand new CLS on the showroom and showed me how they work. The paint depth on that car varied from panel to panel, with the flat surfaces being thicker than the sides by a measurable amount. I don't remember the units those use, but they are probably millimeters.

yeah ive seen those things before i think like the good measuring number to have is 4 all around....or something like that...but i didnt know either that those things are not available to general public..but you could probably get one somewhere
I just bought a 2002 E320 4Matic with 74K miles for $16.4K. Previous lease car, nice body and interior - only a few pixels out on the A/C panel. Needs tires, but not much else.
The wagons simply don't sell well - I don't think they are going for much more for than trade in from what I have been able to tell - either locally (WDC area) or nationally, as shown from ebay - we watched numerous ebay auctions end without meeting the reserves which were also close to the trade in values.
Clearly a perfect car will bring more than one with a few blemishes and issues, but the question is always how much more.
