seems expensive for a 97. (regardless the mileage)
You might want to check it out why the (lower portion) front / rear / side panel has been painted. (unless the sport verion w/ different type of bumper)
Trunk/ tail light has not been align properly, maybe accident?
Front headlight lens might need to replace or polish soon...
And all these simply by looking at the pic....
Usually In-line 6 has been very reliable, that's for sure...but..again...

The previous owner has added some things to the car: Headlight trim rings, steering wheel, shifter knob, AMG wheels, Kleenwheel covers. Those are things that would indicate that it's probably had reasonably good care.
On the other hand, it has probably been painted. The lower rocker panels are definitely painted, and it is debadged, which might or might not indicate that it has been painted. It's hard to tell from those pics, but the white color seems a little off for a factory finish.
I would definitely want to run a magnet (wrapped in a soft cloth) around that body to look for filler. The misaligned taillights and repaint set off warning bells.
$14K sounds like a lot for that car, even if it is straight & true. I would think you should be able to buy that car around $12K. It's low miles, but it doesn't have all the factory equipment that was available at the time. (heated seats, traction control, headlight washers) I would take a hard look at its paint and make sure it's not been previously damaged. And, of course, get a pre-purchase inspection from a reliable M-B specialist.
The link above is for a 97 E320 48,000 miles they were asking $13,175, now it is $13,970, at either price is it a good deal?
I do not know alot of the in and outs of the E320 class.
Three owners = question marks
Car sold at auction = question mark
AMG chrome wheels don't match the car's look.
Possible use of brake dust shield = maybe warped rotors.
Interior is nice
Price is high
If you are going to buy a used car from a dealer (and that is NOT a bad idea) buy it from a first tier dealership. They usually keep the cream puff trade in and auction off the dogs.

Paraphrasing somebody else - "The most expensive car you can buy is a cheap Mercedes". Caveat emptor - buyer beware!
To my eye the car looks pretty clean, especially the interior. However, some of the other contributors said it has had body damage.
Regardless of the price or model, I would NOT recommend buying an MB that has been in a collision or been repainted for some other reason. There are too many of them out there for sale that are in pristine condition.
Price is quite high for that age. Should be closer to $9,000.
Miles pretty good, but the car looks rough - especially the outside.
You said you don't know a whole lot about the E320. Before making this investment I'd highly recommend you get up to speed on the family of W210's.
Big difference 95->96 of course, but also 97->98 and 99->2000
You don't want to be disappointed downstream by the change in feature sets across the years or your costs.
Said another way, if you're asking how the price is for this car -- it's time to do a little research before they see your wallet
It's worth it, though. A nice W210 is a great experience to drive

I stopped in today to look at this car, the interior is nice, exterior needs a wash/wax, the chrome wheels are nasty, the rotors shield things are nasty and I told them that, they are asking $13,550 now.
