ENGINE ELECTRONICS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND MESSAGE

I just purchased a 1997 E 320 and received it yesterday. I drove it last night without a problem. Today while driving slowly my Check engine light with a message "engine electronics" Came on and the engine started running rough. Does anybody have an idea of where i should start looking? I know i should scan it but i do not own one, i will borrow one tomorrow. I checked the gas cap and it seems secure. Could it be injectors, coil, wires, or some sort of sensor? Thanks

RE: ENGINE ELECTRONICS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND MESSAGE

best advice at the moment is to get the car cheked and see what error codes come up.

I'm with Storm, you can rent (refundable deposit) an OBD-II scanner at a few major-chain auto parts stores, and then when you have the codes, google them for what they mean.

Good luck and enjoy the ride,
Greg

With out the codes, we are just guessing. Could be a MAF sensor, oops, there goes $300. We would not want to stear you wrong. Autozone will read the codes for free even if they can't sell you the parts.

I got the same model, got it in 12/06. No problem till I got the oil changed this past sunday. I also filled up with regular for the first time and added a little STP. Next day I get the electronics message, but the car is still running ok. Took it to autozone; they checked the error code for free. Comes out: "Secondary intake fuel injector" While I was getting it read, another benz driver (E420) comes up; so I ask him if he ever got that warning. He says yes, and bets its something to do with the fuel cap or fuel system. I told him about the regular and the STP, he laughed and said, "that's it".

start with the MAF sensor, get a can of CRC mass air flow cleaner, its like 6.99 and take it apart your maf sensor in your air intake and spray it clean after that use a Qtip to clean it. after that if it goes away your...........well do i have to explain?
