Hardwire / mount Valentine 1?

Just picked up my first MB, a 2003 W210 4Matic Wagon, and want to install my trusty Valentine 1. I was thinking up by the rear mirror, using power from the sunroof or lights. Any other suggestions (there don't seem to be too many V1 posts in this forum)?

RE: Hardwire / mount Valentine 1?

I have mine V1 installed directly on the dash, where is secure in case the suction cups would let go and have easy way to run the cord to my 12 V 4-socket.
Why make the life complicated and have something dangling on your head level?

RE: Hardwire / mount Valentine 1?

jlegelis,

I have an 99 E430 with a V1 on the sun visor. I was not able to find a 12V switched line at roof level. I found it easy to run the power line under the molding along the windshield to under the dash. The hard part was removing the panel under the dash and finding the wire to the cigarette lighter. That done, I added extra crimp lugs to add future accessories including GPS.

Good luck!

Regards,
George
