auxilliary fans

I have a 1997 E320. Are the twin auxilliary fans triggered by water temp or only R134A temp and pressure? I was recently having an overheating problem - turned out to be a bad thermostat - and the electric fans never turned on. So, I'm not sure if I have a problem or not - depends on the answer to my question.

Thanks.

RE: auxilliary fans

Should be both temp triggered and A/C triggered.

RE: auxilliary fans

You think you got issues? my 1998 never came with them (and its Pakistan Spec) I purchased a set only to be told by the dealer that this model never came with them,... i still have a hard time believing that.

Anyone got a 1998+ model WITHOUT cooling fans (the front pair)?

RE: auxilliary fans

Thanks for the input. So does anyone know where the fuse for the aux. fans is located? I have looked in all three fuse box areas (under hood, left side of dash, under rear seat) and have found nothing. I'm sure there is also a relay but surely there must be a fuse somewhere.

Thanks.
