I see so much good information in this forum and I hope someone can help with my problem. My cats are rattling and need to be replaced. Does anyone know the most economical solution. My wife and I are ready to deliver our first child so I need to be frugal with car repair if you know what I mean! I really appreciate any helpfull information.[:)]

They should be under warranty, so take it to a dealer. Mine went out ('02 E320) around 60K, and while hubby checked the parts cost to do it ourselves ($1,100 a side!), I found several threads saying they were covered. I took it in & both were done, no charge. I THINK the limits are 8 years/80K, but someone correct me.

Thanks for the response Godiva. You know I didn't even think about it being under warranty because I have 80,400 miles on it. But to your suggestion, I called the dealer and explained the situation. They actually honored the expired warranty by paying all parts and only charged me $200 for inspection and labor. This was Mercedes of Escondido and I think they are pretty awesome for taking care of me when they didn't have to.[:D]
