How do you remove/replace the anodized aluminum windshield/rear glass trim?

I have a 97 E420 in mint condition, except for the faded aluminum window trim, specifically the strip across the top of the windshield, and the trim ring around the rear window glass. These trim pieces have faded from a dark gray to a funny brownish color. Does any one know the procedure for removing and replacing these trim pieces? Thanks, Tom

Foreyes,

Just my 2cents, if my memory serves me correctly. You may have to remove the interior panels on the C-pillar inside the car. The rear speaker shelf has to come out too. The trim ring around the rear screen is pop-rivetted from inside. Good luck.

regards

Yo foreyes, I was struggling with the window molding for a while too, then I just decided to cover it with vinyle, the kind that stickers are made of. So far its been about a year and I have to say it still looks nice and black and is not peeling at all.

Take extra precautions when applying the vinyle. First clean the surface well. then smoothly and evenly cover all areas needed. Then cut and strip the excess with an exacto knife. Good Luck
