Electric windows, mirror & trunk release from console problem
I have a 99 e320 which has just developed a problem. It is not a fuse. All four windows are closed and will not work with any of the center console switches or rear door switches. However, all windows will open using the remote key feature and holding the unlock button down and will also close the same way. the mirrow will move when using the three memory keys on the driver door but will not move using the console switch. The trunk release works with the electronic key opener but the console switch will not work (and is not lit). I was wondering if anyone has ever had this or a similar problem. Please let me hear from any one with a suggestion. i have tried to post this message once before and am not sure it went through. Sorry if there is a duplication of this post.

RE: Electric windows, mirror & trunk release from console problem
I would replace the switch module that is under the wood base around the shift knob. It sounds like it is faulty. The child lock switch for the back window switches is in this module along with the mirror controls, trunk release and the window switches. I would check to see that it is plugged in first. The wood piece can be lifted along the edge that meets the cup holder door. The ring around shift module will snap up as well. The switch module mounts to the back of the wood panel. The cables that plug in to it are just below the mirror control. What happens is that a drink in the cup holder gets spilled and it shorts out the switch module.
