I've disassembled the Taiwan units several times. The
gray adhesive surrounding the perimeter, separating the
front clear lens from the gray housing does have small
gaps. I'm guessing this is where the moisture enters.
We probably should have been more alert and advised you
before your installation....or you should have searched
this forum as there are many (many) posts on sealing the
Depo lens prior to installation.
Nonetheless, the removal/installing procedure with your
model year is so simple that it's not that big an effort.
Lay the headlight unit on bench, with good lighting and
good ventilation. I used clear RTV silicone and went
around the top half of the housing...where clear meets
gray. Let dry for several hours. Turn headlight unit
over and do same for bottom half.
Note: I was a little fanatical and started with wind-
shield sealent silicone as it is more 'liquidy'. This
allowed it to seep into small crevices. Once this dried
I went around with thicker RTV silicone (much thicker).
I live in gray, moisture ladened Pacific Northwet and
have not had condensation yet...even after heavy rain,
car wash (I dont use high pressure).
I did try something potentially silly: as a lark, I
ran rubber tubing from headlight housing vent...and
back to warm part of engine. My thought was if con-
densation is due humidity/moisture, warm drier air
would help abate the condensation. Anecdotal, of course,
but I don't know if this helped.
