One common cause is that your car battery is due/defective. This can cause funny defective lamp signals and a intermittent working EIS. Get a battery load test done, and Good luck.

My wife went to the grocery store with my wagon.
When she wanted to leave the car starts but doesn't go into drive.
She said it had a message of ABS/ESP message.
I bought the switch for replacement.Can this be the problem it doesn't go into drive?
I am at work presently and any help would be appreciated.
I will have to check this when I finish working,and it starts to be cold here at night to work in a parking lot.

I take she cannot put the shifter into drive. If yes, then it is even more likely it is due to the switch. Normally you have to put the foot on the brake pedal in order to move the drifter from Park to Drive. With a bad switch, the system does not know if the brake pedal is pushed.
