Moving from a Cold to Warm Climate

I just moved from NJ to Miami. Within 3 days of being down here my check engine light came on. I am wondering if its a heat/humidity issue and if there are any other "surprises" that I should be ready for. Thanks in advance.

I don't think weather should be a factor. After all they were made to withstand all climates. The check engine light could be for many reasons. We could be guessing all day. Only way to tell is to have your stealer check it.

No, everything seems to be running fine. I thought it might have something to do with the increased humidity down here messing with the sensors. Have scheduled an appointment with MB.

I know I shouldn't be guessing since the problem is so vague but do have your battery checked by the stealer, you car is a 2000 and that would mean it's about that time to change the battery.

RE: Moving from a Cold to Warm Climate

have it checked by a car scanner and try to erase the fault. maybe your ignition system sent wrong data messages to your ECU. this fault is often O2 sensors and cylinders misfiring due to long travels. if no other problems occured erasing this errors will turn off your CEL. i do this most of the time here.

try this too, disconnect the battery and wait for 3-5 minutes and reconnect it. sometimes this CEL turns off.

RED ALERT: JB, this is okay, but be sure you have your radio code and owners manual handy, you'll have a lot of things to reset afterwards.

Probably worth removing and cleaning the MAF with a high flash-point spray solvent (such as berryman b-12), but be sure you're away from sparks and flame and in a well-ventilated area.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg
