I need advice-how to remove dome light door switches?

My dome light comes on and doors unlock when I accelerate hard or hit a hard bump on my 97 E420. I am suspecting a faulty door pin switch. Does anyone know how to remove and inspect these switches? There are no screws or clips visible near or on the switches; I resisted my primal urge to pry the base of the switch up with a screwdriver. Thanks, Tom

RE: I need advice-how to remove dome light door switches?

Good call on your primal urge. I found out the hard way a while ago and it breaks the edge off the switch. Pull the seal that lines the door cavity. You don't have to take the whole thing off, just a little where you can get to the pillar trim clips. It comes off really easily and it's easy to put (just presses on) back on. You will see the small metal clips that hold the pillar panel on. Just undo the one side and sorta bend it out of the way gently and you will be able to see the back of the switch. It has a small plastic tab on it to hold it into the pillar. Press the tab in and the switch literally falls out. Don't be scared to tackle it. It is pretty easy to do. You can unplug the switch and check to make sure it works with a multimeter.
p.s. - car looks good. Those wheels go well with it. Clean look.
