rear axle drive side clunking noise ????

On my 2000 e430 sport, I am getting a metallic clunk when I put the car in gear, it is definitely coming from the drivers side rear wheel, suspension, brake assembly?? Anyone help????

RE: rear axle drive side clunking noise ????

Possibilities are flex disc at the end of the drive shaft, or if you're pretty certain it's coming from a wheel, it could well be a caliper bolt that's loose or broken.

If it's the latter, your ability to stop safely could be impaired - - -suggest you pull the wheel and check it out or take it in for service as promptly as possible.

Regards-
