I have 2 rear door regulators with plastic slider(Bushing) broken that I want to repair using after market part. I have the parts now with me. If you know how, please let me know. I am just trying repair them and keep them as spare.
I just did regulator replacement with after market parts. It is working fine. Maybe better than original part.
This thread has been very helpful, I have ordered a window regulator part to fix my passenger rear window. I have a quick question....my car has a side air bag and previous posts mentioned that it should not be an issue when replacing the part...however I am thinking it might be wise to disconnect the battery before starting.....any thoughts? Thanks

It is almost never unwise to disconnect the battery if you're going to be working around the wiring, even if you're just disconnecting the window motor wiring (which you might want to do).
While you are very unlikely to damage or deploy the airbag, it is still a good idea to disconnect the battery. Be sure to locate your radio code card first.

i was going to attempt a diy on the window regulator, even bought the part off of ebay. However, the guys at advance auto store gave me a name of a company in joliet, il that will install the regulator for $45. So I went and they did a good job in 45 minutes.
cost of regulator $37 (including shipping) ebay
install $45
$82 total...not bad considering my indie mechanic wanted $290 and the dealership $390!!!!!!

So you spend several hours shopping around and waiting for the job to be done on the top of $82.
I do the job in 1/2 hr on my driveway with $7 material cost and about 3 extra minutes to place Internet order.
Just did my passenger rear today. Took 20 minutes! One hint if using the correct steel rivets (0039902497) - get a heavy duty rivet gun. I had a fairly long handled rivet gun and although my hands are pretty strong, I ended up having to augment the handles by adding a couple of two foot tubes over the end of the rivet gun to give me enough torque. Windows works like new!
I did this repair on my right rear today. Everything went smooth, but the black plastic retaining clip under the window rail is broken. Do the dealers carry this obscure part?
