Remote Key Not Working - Benzworld.org

I am sure the owner's manual would answer my question, but unfortunately, I do not have one and am waiting for my order to arrive, so hopefully you guys can help me out in the meantime.

My 1996 E320 has a "switchblade" style key that looks similar (but not identical) to this one:

The batteries were dead, so I put new ones in, but I cannot figure out how to get it to work. I found some info on the Internet that described how to program it, but I tried all those methods and it is still not working. Can somebody please describe in detail how to program it? Thanks.

Since he hasn't posted for a year and a half, I doubt that he'll answer.

Does your exhibit a similar problem?
