ABS and DIY Brake Fluid Bleeding/Replacing

An auto repair manual states that if your car has ABS, let the dealer do the brake fluid bleeding/replacing. I also talked to a PepBoy service rep., he also told me to let the dealer do the brake fluid bleeding/replacing if the vehicle has ABS. Is there any special technique required or special procedure needs to be followed if ABS is involved?

Am I running a risk of damaging the ABS if I bleed/replace the brake fluid myself using the conventional method (i.e., bleed or drain at the bleed valve at the wheels) ?

RE: ABS and DIY Brake Fluid Bleeding/Replacing

I have done it both on '99 LS Lexus and MBZ. No problems at all. ABS doesn't even know I am changing brake fluid.
That was my case. Decision is up to you.
