20001 E320 CD changer problem - Benzworld.org

My CD changer stop playing. When I push CD, it says empty magazine. CD was playing fine before it went into radio mode automatically.
I think CD is bad but I could use some help from you with guidance.

Hi, Raylee.

Mine did this a while back, on a dare I did the battery disconnect/reset and when I brought the radio back on line with the code, the trunk-mounted CD changer worked again. Seems kind of hokey, but it's certainly worth the attempt. Of course you also get to reset all of your windows and ABS/ESP displays, so it keeps you in practice. :)

I had a similar experience with our 99 SL and knew that the cassette was fully loaded with CDs..... I popped it out, made sure I had them all in correctly (I did) and put it back in.

It's been fine ever since . . I assumed that potentially some dust on the lens/reader or just the dreaded unexplained MB glitch.

I ended up replacing CD changer for $250 plus core with 1 year warranty. This one had manufacturing code of year 2002 made in Europe, not in China.
