My sister's 2000 S500 had the same problem. Her S500 had one front side dropped down while being parked, lucky. It costed her over US$1000 at a dealership.
Could you post a picture of your spring mount after it's repaired to show what kind of re-enforcement you added to it?
Jakester,
Do you have the recall number or notice? Could you post it? Do you know what did MB dealership do to correct the problem? Any pictures to show what kind of work they did?
Does anybody know whether it applies to the US MB owners?
This dumb and stupid spring purch design and inexcusable attitude of MBZ matching lousy quality and workmanship will not go away until MBZ have done something for current owners.
Cerritos,
I have a strong feeling that your car has improved version of spring perch design as opposed to earlier model cars. Take a close look at the original post of '96 year model E320 and compare. I saw post here mentioning a recall on this issue from 1997(?) to 2000.
You may not have to worry! Your spring perch looks pretty good to me.
I am assuming your car is 2001 or later model year car. Mine is 2001 E320 and I looked at it this AM. It looks just like yours and I am somewhat relieved now.
Give me a few days and I will make some calls and see what I can dig up. Should be able to tell you what the recall is about and what vehicles it covers. A couple days anyway.
got mine checked today..<br>
