I'm replacing mirror covers with the turning signal ones and can't seem to locate the correct wire to tap into. I know there were several posts on this but the Search is not working for some reason.
I have (i think) tested all the wires running allong the right side doors, no luck.
If you know, please tell me where the wires are running and what color wires are for the left and right turning signals.
E-Klasse - please forward the instructions if you still have them. You have been and are one of the best resources on this forum.
Pardon..am not E-Klasse, nor portray him on the tele
but I did save several tips on the installation of the
illum sills as I was planning to do this mod soon.
Try these - hope it gives the info you're seeking...
raymond- I did not mean to offend anyone...What I said was that E-Klasse is ONE of the great resources, there are many great resources on this forum.
Thank you very much for the info. I have located some of the original posts from E-Klasse and other members about this issue.
It seems that I was on the right track. But still unsucessfull. I traced the rear tail blinker wire which is black with green stripe (as shown on the diagrams and discussed in the posts), however I can not locate it in the right side under the door sills. Besides, I have tested every wire in the bunch and no go. So now I'm wondering (before stripping the whole car) is it possible that the wire in question is routed else where in my car. Or may be someone replaced the section of the wiring and it's there but different color (which is unlikely because I did test all of them).
I was so hurt that I really didn't want to help you
anymore. :-) Actually, I was in a rush and didn't
realize that I posted links to the illuminated door
sills instead of your requested lighted/mirrors. So
let me dig for them. Just saw them several weeks ago.

RE: Need a wiring diagram for signal lights.
Go in to the trunk and look at the connector on each tail light. The wires are some what color coded in that they have a stripe of color on the black wire.
Remove the door sills on each side and locate the same size and color of the wire.
The best thing is to test to make sure you have the correct wire before you tap in to it. Take a pin and poke it through the insolation so that it contacts the wire. Take a test light (Any 12V automotive bulb) and connect one lead to the pin and the other to the body of the can for a ground connection. Now turn on signal flasher.
The wires for the turn signals are not very big in diameter. There may be other wires with the same color srtipe on them but they will not be the same size wire. Looking at the wires in the socket at the tail light will help identify it in the door sill without the use of a wiring diagram.
