Replacment of engine in E280 - W210

I am going to buy a used engine for my E280 - W210

The question, can I re-use the engine control box from my old car or must I have the one from the old car where my replacement engine is coming from.

My locale Mercedes told me a story that ALL the electric must be paired with the engine, as it otherwise will not start the engine.

I beliefve they are telling Bull.... as the engine should start from no matter what signal is commming as long that the transponder in the key is working with the egnition in the car I should be good (I hope)

If any one has experience with this I would appriciate some feedback, thanks in advance!!

I think you are right on this one.

Sounds like the dealer is using the grande shovel to fling the BS your direction.

Just my .02

I suspect he was referring to the transponder issue and trying to turn this into a nice big project for them.

Maybe he has a boat payment due?[:(!]

Of course we are talking R&R of the same type engine...
