I have 43000 miles on my 98 E320. Mercedes claims the tranny is "lifetime sealed", and does not recommend changing filter or fluid. This sounds crazy to me. Any thoughts?
Also, what about spark plugs? Mercedes says change at 100,000 miles. I was thinking about 50,000.

Do a search and you'll find lots of opinions on the ATF issue. I changed mine at 50,000 and will continue to do that. On another forum, an MB dealer tech said that a technical service bulletin just came out from Mercedes advising to change the sealed for life fluids in some transmissions at 40 to 50,000 miles. Big thing is to use only MB fluid and get the level absolutely accurate.
