radio reception question

i live and drive around the Los Angeles area and my AM radio reception is awful, does anyone have any suggestions on how to improve it. the FM is OK, not great. i don't know if i want the satellite radio, does it have local stations?

Youll need to replace the antenna amplifier...its common for the ant. amp. going south on the W210s

I recently purchased 1 1998 E430 Sport to travel in and I also notice a large difference in reception from the previously driven BMW. Is there a method known to test the amplifier in place? If not, does anyonew have a figure for the cost of the amp? Anyone know eher it is located?

YES....I had the same AM reception problem and the dealer replaced the ant. amp.- I cant remember exactly how much the cost is.

I check with the MB dealer, they quoted me about $16 for the amp.

Does anyone know how to replace the amp?

I had similar poor AM reception after having my windows tinted... The antenna is on the rear window and some tinting films have metalic content that blocks signal. The tinting company replaced the film with a non metalic film and now AM reception is ok.
