Is There Any Consensus on the Right HID or Xenon Kit?

I am contemplating the expense and frustration of ripping out perfectly good headlights in order to improve the kool factor on my 00 W210 as well as improve night time visibility.

Everything I've read on the In-Pro kits give me pause, and they are (only) a projector mod with clear lenses -- no Xenon, no HID. The Depos sounded no better.

Am I better off just bagging the idea at this time and getting whatever passes for the best halogens on the street right now? Osram-Sylvania? Philips?

Or maybe it's worth the factory kit (does someone have these?) I have a 2000 which is a slightly different front end (as you know) than the pre-2000's that I've seen with the In-Pro kits....

What's the current thinking on this?

Thanks

RE: Is There Any Consensus on the Right HID or Xenon Kit?

InPro/Depo have two different sets of headlights. One for 96-99 and the other for 2000 onward. Depo now makes a HID ready assembly, for those who want to upgrade or have factory HID.

Technically anything with xenon gas is a xenon light; in marketing terms. However, All HIDs are arc types wether they are xenon, sodium, mercury vapor, or halide gas. Xenon HIDs in cars seem to be refered to as "Bi-Xenons" by the manfacturers.

It also appears that the InPro/Depo will NOT improve nighttime illumination unless you replace the internal lenses with w211 factory lenses.

I have used silverstars in my head and fog lights and they were wonderfull. Silverstars and blue visions have the same advisertised color temp: 4000k.

Do a search on silverstar, xenon, or blue vision. There are many threads here devoted to this topic.
