will i mount my Brabus(Remus) Exhaust WITH or WITHOUT the Resonator? Advice pls.

I had a BMW 528 and i removed the resonator and kept the Stock Muffler- the sound is sweet(Med Tone pitch, Not Loud, Noticeable only with revs). I have a Brabus(Remus) Muffler and im deciding either to remove(just replace with straight pipe) the Resonator or keep it when i install the Brabus Muffler. I heard the Brabus Exhaust with the resonator on and it still sound like stock- i just want a little hum(not too loud like a Camaro!)....ANYONE DELETED THEIR RESONATOR? PLS DESCRIBE THE SOUND(deep, throaty,loud,hi/low pitched AND WHAT MUFFLER YOU USED....Thnx

RE: will i mount my Brabus(Remus) Exhaust WITH or WITHOUT the Resonator? Advice pls.

I had been thinking about removing the resonator from the exhaust system for a while now, so today i did it. It took a little time to weld together a Y-pipe because the inlet part of the resonator has two 2inch pipes and the outlet is one 2 1/4 inch pipe. I have done this modification several times before on other cars that i've owned so i figured it would sound nice. All said and done i would have to say it didn't make any magnificent difference in the sound and the same goes for the horsepower. You might just consider it a waist of time. I would say its safe to mount the exhaust system without the resonator. good luck, let us know how it goes.

The Resonator Delete is one upgrade you can easily do on your car to give it a "more sporty" sound. I did this in my BMW E39 528, i know that BMWs inherently have the more "sporty" sounding engine(both I6 and V8)and MBs are more in the Luxurious Silent side. Anyway, after i deleted my 528's Resonator(replaced with a straight pipe) and using just the STOCK BMW 528 exhaust, the car sounded great!-sounded like i upgraded to a Supersprint Exhaust but less Throaty and not Loud at all(sounded like a Deep/Louder Superbike but is not annoying at all, at idle with doors/windows closed you cant hear anything[:)], when you rev. at 2000-3000k the engine sounded really good!)....Some facts i learned about Resonator Deleting(mainly experience from current BMW(I6/V8) cars): 1: Smog Legal[:)]-the resonator is located AFTER the Cats. 2: Use the same pipe size diameter or go up to ONLY 1/2 Inch in replacement of the Resonator WITH AUTO-TRANNY Equipt cars- this is VERY important when you consider Back pressure, you can go up to 1 inch pipe diameter if your car is Manual 3. Some BMW owners actually reported some HP increase bec. of less restriction.........Ill definitely do the Resonator Delete for my E320 WITH the BRABUS/Remus Exhaust and i will report back my experience[:)]

I wanted to revise what i said about removing the resonator. I had my friend drive my car so i could hear the exhaust note from the outside of the car and i must say, I liked it alot more than initially. It has a very suttle deep throaty sound that is ok by me. The stock resonator is the straight through type so i have'nt felt a power increase, but oh well. It sounds good.[:)]

I added a remus to my E280 and I did not remove the resonator. The exhaust now has a deeper note throughout the revband. I'm not too sure if I'll remove the resonator, my friends say it sounds amazing now, but I have to let someone drive it for me so I can have an "out of car" experience.[:D]

RE: will i mount my Brabus(Remus) Exhaust WITH or WITHOUT the Resonator? Advice pls.

i already test driven a 99 E320 and a 00 C-Class with the BRABUS/Remus muffler(resonator on)- very slight sound difference from stock even if you rev. around 3000-4000k(nice mild deep/throaty rumble). I want a BIT more rumble(definitely not too much rumble to sound like a Mustang V8), im hoping that the Resonator deleted WITH the BRABUS/Remus muffler will do the trick....if its too loud for my taste i can always mount the resonator back[;)]...ill keep everyone posted.
