Gas Reserve Light Comes On with 1/2 Tank

Twice now, in our 2002 E320, the fuel gas reserve light comes on and blinks. There is a 1/2 tank of gas left. I know, because I stopped at the next station and filled it up. It happened again at 1/2 empty. The light starts blinking when the tank is half full. I checked the gas cap and it was tight. There appears to be no evidence of any type of leak in the system. The car is in a garage at nite and there is no gas smell in the morning. Everything else is perfect. Any ideas?
Thanks [:D]

If the light blinks....Chances are the Fuel cap is not secure or has a bad seal on the cap...if the light comes on at half tank...its a defective fuel sending unit...Should be warranty...take it to the dealer

My problem was when my tank was full my fuel gauge indicator would read 1/2. I took it to the dealer and they replace the fuel sending unit.

Thanks. It is going in for B Service in a couple of weeks. I'll have them determine the problem.
