I have the standard halogen headlights on my W210 and was planning on doing a full xenon conversion, but after thinking about it I've decided to save the money. This is where the dumb question comes in, can I get really just plug and play the bulbs we all see out there directly into my current system? (like these blubs: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=5733274629) If so, should I replace all the bulbs or just the main ones?
Thanks again all

RE: This might be a dumb headlight question
Just don't get a bulb that produces more heat than the stock bulbs. The non xenon lense and housing may not take the heat of a xenon system. Sylvania makes a good aftermarket bulb. There are a lot of junk bulbs for sale out there so beware.

My E280 didn't have Xenons and I wasn't in the position to spend alot on it when I got it (was building my house) so I opted for a Philips HID (High Intensity Discharge) system. They are like Xenons but are chaper and easier to fit (plug and play), quite alot of people use them here. Just try to make sure you get a set rated 6000k or below otherwise you lose alot of light (white light) and they tend to look too purple/blue.
if you want to really go the inexpensive, yet functional route, get the philips silver star or blue vision bulbs. they don't sell them in the USA, but they are much brighter than stock, and only run you about $40. i think its been the best couple bucks i've spent yet.
i could be wrong but as far as i know Xenon is a brand name. The term H.I.D. refers to a gas charged lighting system used for many different applications, cars, street lights, sports field lighting, and so on. H.I.D's are the best in my opinion, when i see a benz with the fake bulbs its very easy to identify the fake. Save up and get the good stuff. my two cents.
I've deciced to try out the Sylvania SilverStar line for my '00 E430, I got a REALLY good deal from a private sale. I'll trade out one full side (I got replacement bulbs for every light) and take some comparison pics for everyone out there that would be interested in seeing the difference. The unknown, because I haven't had time to check, is what bulbs are currently on my car, but I think they are the stock bulbs.
I unfortunately, won't be able to get this done for close to three weeks as I'm taking a vacation. Job is running me ragged and I need some time off. [;)]
Doggone, I was just about to offer Silverstars for you, gratus. I guess I'll unload them on my brother. Didn't like them. BlueVision was better according to my eyeballs.
