I just recently purchased a 2000 E320 and would like to add a few upgrades. I would like to replace the all leather steering wheel with a wood/leather steering wheel. I can get a matching wood/leather steering wheel for a 1998 E320 at a reasonable price. My question is:
Can the 1998 E320 steering wheel fit the 2000 E320?
The air bag and steering wheel controls assembly would have to be moved from my existing steering wheel to the new one.
You can do the swap but you would lose all the functions of the steering buttons etc.
You'd be better off looking for a half wood steering form a post 1999 model so you can stick with your original airbag (at least you know where it's been all this time). You can also try looking for a wooden post 99 CLK steering wheel as well as it is the same unit.
Thank you for your reply and I will look for a post 1999 E or CLK wood/leather wheel. However, wouldn't my air bag and steering wheel controls move from my existing wheel to the 1998 one? I'm confused - they seem to be separate parts from the steering wheel itself.
Also, if anyone is selling (at a reasonable price!) a beige/burlwood walnut steering wheel that can fit a 2000 E320, please let me know.

It Would Be Best to ONLY use a 2000 to 2002 W210 E Class Steering Wheel..The PRE Model Update Steering Would NOT work on a Late 2000 On W210 E class..Unless you swap out the contact rings..The Steering Wheels are Different as are the Air Bags
