yes it will work, but you will not get the steering wheel fuctions like the later years nor can you set the clock. [:)][:)]
Why wouldnt the steering wheel functions work ... all you need is the correct parts and some skill.
Time, Money & Skill,... three things I don't have[;)][:D]

yes everything will work as it should, but again you can not set the clock. A way to get around the clock is when you install the cluster wait until 12:00 to do so whether it be noon or midnight because once there is power to the cluster it will default the clock to 12:00 and start from that time. In regards to everything people are saying about the steering wheel controls, yes its possible but then you need to a ton of other parts like a newer style steering wheel. And the know how with alot of patience. If you are willing than great but some of us just like the look of a new cluster with out all the work.[:)]

Retrofitting a multifunctional instrument cluster AND a multifunctional steering wheel is doable, in W210s which have been built AFTER February 1997; Steve MBenzNL did it lots of times in the past.

And as far as I know: there are no difficulties with the clock settings...

Dont for get that US law is in effect on "truth in mileage", on the odometer. You will have to certify the mileage, and if you can not, watch the value of your car drop. When dealers replace a panel the parts depot codes the current mileage into it, when the dealer certifies the odometer.
