Normal Operating Temp?

Thought I would get a poll going on what everyone's operating temp is on their e class cars...

I have a '97 e320 w/94k miles. My car's temp holds at 80 degress celcius on the highway and in "light" stop and go traffic. In heavy, bumper-to-bumper traffic, my temp climbs up close to 100 degrees celcius. Note: I live in Memphis where summer temp is ~95 degress F.

What temp ranges does your car operate in?

RE: Normal Operating Temp?

My V6 runs 90 around town and has approached 100 on a hot day sitting and idling. Much more stable than my chevy.

RE: Normal Operating Temp?

The normal temp range is 90 +/- 10 or 80 to 100 deg C. I have found that on the inline 6 you can replace the 89 deg C thermostat with the 79 deg C one from the E300 deisel if you want the thermostat to open 10 deg C sooner. The temp is affected by airflow so in stop and go trafic, the temp will go up. Once you are on the open road it goes down.
