Just two things that I wanted to try this week on my day off. I really like the daytime running lights on the Caddy CTS's. So I figured I make my own amber DRL conversion.
Since I have retro'd Audi S4 xenon projectors, the stock fog lights became virtually useless. Not to mention the intense heat they make and self destruct on their own with time. I re-based the H1 originally that was in their to an 1157 base that I bought at AutoZone. I did a little trimming and some JB Weld to secure the base in place.
On a second note I liked how the late model C-Class motors have the spark plug engine cover a nice deep red. So I was influenced after repainting the spark plug cover on our C220 to the same on my E300.

RE: Mods that give your w210 Diesel a facelift...
I like the red cover. Are you missing a chrome headlight ring?
How much more modding are you planning to do? I would body match the black lower parts of the car to the silver color.

Looks good. How did you paint the cover (type of paint, how done)?

It was from AutoZone. 500 degreee temp ceramic paint. The paint code is ??1608. Just look for the high temp paints and remember 1608 and you'll find it.
