99 E300 TD - turn signal and cruise control lever is loose

They both work, but they are loose - there's some sort of plastic collar that goes around the steering column, and it has about an inch of play in it, up and down.

Is this normal? If it isn't, how do I go about getting it fixed? I got warranty coverage for this car, so I can take it back to the dealer without it costing me too much.

My 98 E430 had the same problem. I took it to the dealer. They said it needed a pin to hold the collar in place. They put it in at no charge.
