Hello! New to the Forum...Just bought a very nice 1999 E55 and I love the car. Right now I only have one problem and I want to make sure I diagnose it right so I can fix the right part. Sometimes the blower motor on the car works and sometimes it doesn't. Mostly during the day it doesn't want to kick in. With the controls turned off automatic and the blower speed on hi we get nothing. Sometimes it will decided to blow at different speeds while you are driving down the road (almost like it is on automatic) but that happens whether its on automatic or not. I am thinking regualtor or motor but I wanted to know if any of you guys could let me know about diagnostics on this problem.[?]

RE: This situation blows! (Or rather doesn't)
Sounds like you diagnosed it correctly. You should be able to ramp through the blower speeds manually from the controls with out it stopping or jumping to a different speed. The regulator is not sold separatly from the fan motor for the W210 E-Class. You can get one for a SL or a S class and retrofit it.

E-Klasse, Is that your site or was there a specific thing I should look at on it. Thanks for the tip. I have a friend that thinks he might have a blower motor and regulator. I have a 240D '82 model that I retrofitted a Nissan Blower motor in. It fit like a charm with only mounting hole relocations and still works to this day.

That is not my site but it has a lot of good information on it. I ran accross it a while ago. There should be a section on there about the AC in the SL and older CL.
