RE: sound system

The factory Bose system uses 2 ohm speakers. What ohm did you use?

The amp is the the left rear of the trunk behind the carpeting.

You can't miss it. Pull back the carpeting in the trunk of your E. Look at the left corner and just to the side of the trunk. Going by memory, the amp is rectangular and around 1" to 2" think, 5" wide and around 6" long and has a bunch of wires running in and out.

RE: sound system

WELL ALL I SEE ARE WIRES HOOKED UP TO THIS PIN LIKE THING, SOMETHING THATS LIKE A PRINTER CABLE. MAYBE THIS IS THE PIECE THAT DEALERS CONNECT THEIR MOD CHIP TO SEE WHATS WRONG WIT THE CAR. BUT I DONT THINK I HAVE AN AMP! WHAT SHOULD I DO? MY SOUND SYSTEM SUCKS SUCKS. WHAT SPEAKERS DO YOU RECOMMEND? I NEED VOICE MORE THAN ANYTHING, I HAVE MB QUARTS IN THE BACK AND PIONEER 4 WAY IN THE FRONT DOORS. I HAVE THE FACTORY 6" WOOFERS BUT NOT CONNECTED SINCE I HAVE ECLIPSE 2 12' SUBS IN THE BACK. I JUS NEED MORE VOICE. HOW SHOULD I DO IT?

That is the phone module. Look up near the trunk hinge.

RE: sound system

If I'm not mistaken (help me out E-Klasse) if you have Bose you should have speakers in the dash board and 4 speakers on the rear shelf (2 woofers and 2 speakers)as well as all the usual door speakers. Also it should say Bose on the rear shelf speaker covers.

If all of this stuff is present then you know you have a Bose setup.

Best is to check in the boot (from the bottom) and see if all 4 speaker holes are taken up or not. Also you can just stick your ear to the dash and see if there is any music coming from the holes in the dashboard (block off the side mirror mounted tweeter with a cloth or something).

Good Luck[8D]

RE: sound system

It is up close to the inside of the C-Pillar. You can call the dealership and have them run your VIN number to see what options it had on it.

RE: sound system

First off 4 way speakers sound like crap, but that's alright, second neither the deck or the factory amp have enough power to push those speakers, you need to get another amp to power them espically the MB Quarts. I would suggest 100watts rms @ 12volts into 4ohms for them. Look into older precision power amps not the new ones those are crap. Maybe rockfordfosgate would sound well enough.
