RE: removing rear view mirror

The mirror is held on by spring tension and is designed to break away in an accident so it can be removed by pushing it forward and down. If you push up on the headliner, you can see the spring in a horizontal position above the mirror. There is a power connector or plug up there as well so disconnect that before you take it off in case you yank on it too hard when removing it. You can get a flat screw driver above it as well and push the spring to the side and then pull the mirror down.
