RE: 97 E-320 Rear window fall ....

I've had this problem with both my '97 E320 and my '92 190E. After taking it to the Mercedes dealer, I spent about $350 for the window. They had to replace the gears for the window also, so I'm sure they'll have to do the same for yours. Hope this helps.

RE: 97 E-320 Rear window fall ....

my 2000 e320 wagon right rear power window failed without warning this week (50K miles).

Makes crunching sounds going down, and won't go back up w/o manual assistance (won't stay up either).

Is this a factory issue?

I replaced both of mine. Here is the assembly that needs to replaced. The originals are rivited on so you just have to drill them out. The picture is without the motor that mounts in the center.

I did the left rear door at the end of last year. The window regulator part was about $80 with shipping included. You probably will not need the replacement motor, as the old one can be reused.

Search this forum, someone has documented the process with pictures. Or it maybe on the other "mb*****.org" forum.

RE: 97 E-320 Rear window fall ....

My rear window failed about 2 months ago.. It was stuck and couldn't go back up. Had to call Merc roadside assistance and they cut the regulator because it was all tangled up.

I called up all the Mercedes Benz Workshops and each were asking $450-$550AUD!!! (thats around $470US for all you Americans!) This is a window regulator!

Anyway I did alot of research and managed to get original mercedes part installed for $300AUD($270US)yesterday [:)]

If you can buy it without the motor, you can save money. I reused the motors on both of mine.

RE: 97 E-320 Rear window fall ....

Just happened on my 99 e320. Dealer replaced and used the existing motor. Approx. $300-$350 out the door. I asked him when the other side was going to go. He said anytime, so just don't use it. He was kidding.
