RE: stuck sunroof

This is a common problem. You don't have to spend $3500 either. Most of the time it is actually $5 worth of parts. There are 2 covers that hold the cable in that is used to move the roof in it's track. The covers warp out so that the cable comes out of the track and binds up. The original covers are only held on with one screw so the one end can warp away. The new covers are held on with 2 screws so you have to drill an extra hole for it. You have to push the roof open far enough to clear the covers that are in the middle of the track.

RE: stuck sunroof

You might check with Silverstar Recycling about getting the whole track. [:(] It sounds like there is a broken piece jammed in there that is getting in the way.

RE: stuck sunroof

There is a shop video tape of how to remove and reinstall the roof panel. I have seen it for sale on ebay before.

RE: stuck sunroof

jazzy_gill, it sounds like it would be cheaper in the long run, to just fly E Klasse out to where you live! LOL Man.....I can only imagine the profit margin that your dealer was hoping to make off of you!! I just joined this list, but I'm lovin it already!

RE: stuck sunroof

I don't think that you have to remove the headliner. You should be able to pull the roof panel motor by removing the dome light. With the motor out, try to move the panel. With the panel all of the way open, the track will lift out.
