LED bulbs

Anyone ever tried the LED bulbs, like the ones sold by "for my mercedes .com" (had to break it up because of the filter)? Are they brighter than stock? Is the color the same for the amber ones?

I bought a pair of Titanium bulbs and the color is very different. The amber is very dark.

RE: LED bulbs

Are the titanium bulbs name brand or import type? APC would be considered import type. Anyways, the chrome or silver coating is similiar to the mirrored finish on sunglasses. They is why some amber bulbs are darker when they light up.

As for the LED bulbs you are seeking, the amber bulbs are more orange in color when lit. But, they may not seem bright enough in the either the W210 headlight or tail light assemblies. These LED bulbs only emit light in the forward direction. The W210 housing take advantage of the rear reflector to emit more light out of the housing. Some newer style LED bulbs now have rear or side emitting LEDs. At any rate, if you want as much light as the stock bulb from and LED assembly, you will need a bulb with more than 12 - 16 individual LEDs.

I recall a benzworld forum memeber with a ML, he used the bulbs you want, but the ML light assemblies are a lot different than the E-class, especially the fronts. Look for pics the gallery.

RE: LED bulbs

Here is the description from the web site above:

"NEW! WIDE ANGLE L.E.D.s
Hyper Bright L.E.D. replacement bulbs are now available with a 100 degree viewing angle. This means fuller and more even light coverage of the lens, and better viewing from the side.
(Previous bulbs had a 30 degree viewing angle)"

End quote.

I was debating between these, the Sylvania Silverstars (Blue glass/Amber Light) and the Titanium.

I may decide to go with the titanium (APC) I bought for my Avalanche. Since the bulb does not come on full time, the silver color will look better on my quartz silver.

RE: LED bulbs

Hi, I guess I should of clarified more. The .com bulbs are still forward illuminating.

Go here: http://autolumination.com/1156_1157.htm

The "Matrix" bulb is a better bet, if you want LED. Another company makes a similiar bulb, but they want about $60USD each.

The APC is a better value than the Silver Stars, but the Silver Star coating may be of a higher quality.

I am debating about going LED. In the meantime, I was able to make true yellow bulbs with Krylon glass paint, then I covered them with a silver frost color, same type of paint from Krylon. Its been over a year, they still work and the color is great.

RE: LED bulbs

Forgot to mention, if you want the chrome type bulb, go to the end of the webpage I posted previously. They have 1156 and 1157 red, amber, or blue silver star type bulbs for $2.99 each. See the shipping charges are very reasonable. I have no affiliation with the site at all. I found it a while back.

RE: LED bulbs

Just talked to a guy that has an Avalanche like mine. He bought the "matrix" type with 25 leds. The quality of the output is better on the led, but the light is not reflected as well as with standard bulb. The led was brighter, but the look was not as bold.

Another thing that he found out was that tail lights cannot be swapped for leds unless there is a ..., I forget what he called it but had something to do with regulating power to the line. Otherwise the fuse blows.

I didn't like it for the Avalanche and am not going to risk it for my E. I'll stick with the Titanium bulbs. Thanks for the link!
