Brake disk corrosion + sound when braking

Hi all,

I have noticed that the brake disks on our merc e200 are discoulored, and not shining bright as on other cars(mainly japanese cars) Is this normal for mercs, or is there something wrong? Also there is a squeking noise when braking, even after installing new brake disk and callipers.

Someone who knows please reply

RE: Brake disk corrosion + sound when braking

Sounds to me like your Brake discs are grooved. This tends to happen alot where I'm from due to improper compounds of pad being used. The easiest solution on my side of the world is to get your discs on a lathe and have a MM or so ground off to make their faces flat & Shiny again. However I would NOT recommend this for you since you have already changed your discs & Pads. Its possible the setup you have don't work well together, have you tried to change the pad to a different compound?

Till now only my CL has shiny discs, the rest are all a bit dull, i guess its a merc thing.

If you really want the shiny look for your discs then what I would suggest is to get new (Aftermarket - Ferodo Brembo A.P.Racing) discs and pads and bed them in properly and gently for the first few hundred kilometers. But if you do decide to do that, make sure to go for a tried and tested setup for the 210.

Hope this helps[:D]
