I've gotten the "Check engine; Engine electronics" about 3 times in the past week. Has anyone had any experience with that one? I was considering waiting until I go in to my friendly neighborhood MB shop for an oil change to get it looked at, but I don't want to wait if it indicates something potentially serious.

RE: Check engine - electronics
Most of the time it is an emmissions sensor that is out of range like the O2 sensor. It all depends on the code that set the CE light on. Have the codes read and see what is causing it. If you don't notice any misfire or poor performance then be ready to change a sensor out.

Resetting the message does not clear the code. Sometimes after a number of starts the code will clear if the failure cures itself but normally the code will be retained in the computer so it can be read out at the dealer and then they will clear it
I had the same light come on. I ignored it because it would come and go. Eventually my gas mileage and power started dropping off and the tranny wasn't shifting properly. I went to the local auto parts store and borrowed there Actron low budget scanner. It didn't pick up the code. So I finally broke down and went to mercedes, $400 to diagnose the porblem and $250 to fix it. Crank shaft sensor had gone bad. Moral of the story, Buy a good scanner for about $600 if you are mechanically inclined and fix stuff yourself.
